Pursuant to the approval of the Syndicate in its 13^th meeting held on 30^th May, 2025, and in accordance with Section 5(1)(b) and Section 25(2)(t) of the University of Child Health Sciences, Lahore Act, 2021 (Act XVIII of 2021), the “Admission Policy for the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)” for the induction of 2025-2026 and afterwards is hereby notified as under:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Category – I:

• Minimum of 10 Years of schooling (Matriculation-Science).
• 03 Year Diploma in Nursing
• 01 Year Diploma in Midwifery or any Post Basic Specialty Diploma registered with Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC).
• 01-year experience as Registered Nurse (RN) after Diploma in Nursing.
• 02 Years Post RN BSN/BSM Degree as specified by PNMC and HEC vide Notification No. 8(61)/A&A/2018/HEC/5799, dated 26.04.2018 and registered with PNMC.
• 02 years’ experience as RN of which minimum of 01 Year experience as RN after Post RN BSN (clinical includes inpatient and outpatient in primary, secondary and tertiary care, as well as teaching and research).

Category – II:

• 12 Years schooling (FSc Pre-Medical)
• 04 Year BS Nursing registered with PNMC.
• 01-Year Internship (bedside care)
• 01-year experience as RN after BSN (clinical includes inpatient and outpatient in primary, secondary and tertiary care as well as teaching and research) (excluding 01-year Internship).

SEAT DISTRIBUTION:

• Open merit :         20 Seats
• Self-Finance :         03 Seats
• Person with special ability (Disabled quota) :         01 Seat
• Foreign/International :         01 Seat
• Total Seats :           25 Seat

Both female and male candidates are eligible to apply, with equal opportunities provided to all applicants.

Open merit:

The seats are allocated with 90% reserved for applicants holding a valid domicile certificate of Punjab, while the remaining 10% are open to applicants from other provinces, Federal, FATA, AJK, Gilgit & Baltistan.

Self-Finance:

Self-financed seats are available for candidates who can fund their education, providing an opportunity for students who may not secure admission through open-merit seats. These seats have a significantly higher fee structure compared to open-merit seats.

Person with special ability:

1. In the context of MSN admissions, special ability is defined as a physical impairment that significantly hinders a candidate’s ability to acquire education before entering College of Nursing, relative to a normal individual, but does not preclude them from pursuing academic studies.

1. The Special ability shall be of permanent nature.

• The candidate shall be declared specially-able by the Medical Board.

1. Selection against these seats shall be finalized on the recommendation of Medical Board on merit from amongst the certified Special able candidates.

1. To be considered on open merit as well as the specially abled candidate’s seats, the candidates must apply against both categories. However, it will be the candidate’s choice to avail an open merit or a disabled (specially-abled) seat.

1. The vacant seats from disability quota will be reallocated to self-finance candidates. If any self-finance seats remain vacant, they will subsequently be offered to candidates on open merit.

Foreign/International:

1. Foreign/International seats are for applicants who hold a foreign/dual nationality and/or overseas (being a Pakistani citizen holding a permanent residence status in a foreign country) Pakistani.

6. Such candidates must have English proficiency certificate as IELTS academic (with an overall score: 6.0).

• The candidate shall hold an equivalent qualification and have obtained a minimum of 2.5 GPA and registered with the Nursing Council abroad.

1. Where any seat of foreign quota remains vacant due to non-availability of eligible candidates or otherwise, it shall be transferred to self-finance seats. Provided that a student admitted on a foreign seat shall pay the fee as a foreign student regardless of any change in the status of such student during the academic programme.

1. Vacant seats from the foreign quota will be reallocated to self-finance candidates. If any
   self-financed seats remain vacant, they will subsequently be offered to candidates on open merit.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

The merit shall be calculated as follows:

* Publications will be accepted if published in HEC-listed journals in W, X, Y categories.

Original article:

• 1^st, 2^nd and Corresponding Author :         0 mark per article
• 3^rd to 6^th author :         5 mark per article

Case report:

• 1^st and 2^nd author :         5 mark
• 3^rd to 6^th author :         25 mark

Note: Authors in 7^th or onward positions will not be considered.

** Experience

A total of 5 marks is allocated for experience in addition to the mandatory experience of two years.

• 5 mark if the experience is less than one year, but more than 06 months
• 01 mark for one year
• 02 marks for two years
• 03 marks for three years
• 04 marks for four years
• 05 marks for five years or more

The experience will only be considered from institutes/hospitals recognised by the PMDC/PNMC/Health Care Commission.

***Experience from Host Institutes

The constituent institutes/hospitals of the UCHS: The Children’s Hospital, College of Nursing & The School of Allied Health Sciences.

An applicant currently working in a host institute will only be eligible for these marks:

• 5 mark if the experience is less than one year, but more than 06 months
• 01 mark for one year
• 02 marks for two years
• 03 marks for three years or more

ENTRY TEST DETAILS:

• Test Format: 100 MCQs

–      Nursing                                           :         60 marks

–      English                                            :         20 marks

–      Analytical Reasoning and IT skills          :         20 marks

• Passing Criteria :         Minimum 50% marks
• No negative marking

Passing the entry test is mandatory for the interview.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:

1. To apply, visit the website (www.uchs.edu.pk), where you can create an account by providing your full name, father’s/guardian’s name, email ID, and a secure password. Once you’ve created your account, you can proceed with the application process. Ensure you have the required information and documents ready to facilitate a smooth application process.

2. The application form must be completed by entering personal details, including name, domicile, contact information, address, nationality, gender, and date of birth.

3. Applicants shall upload scanned copies of the required documents in compliance with the prescribed file size limit of 2 MB per document.

4. Before submission, applicants must read and acknowledge the Undertaking, verifying all provided information and attached documents.

5. The completed application must be submitted online, after which a confirmation notification will be sent to the applicant’s registered email. Applicants are required to download and print both the submitted application and the bank challan for the admission processing fee.

6. Entry test will be conducted by the University of Child Health Sciences Lahore, for admission in the MSN Program and is compulsory (Passing Marks= 50%).

7. Entry test will be MCQs-based (Nursing 60%, English 20%, Analytical reasoning and Computer skills 20%).

8. No request for modification, amendment, or rectification of an application shall be entertained after its final submission.

9. The candidature and/or admission of any applicant found to have submitted forged, fake, or fabricated documents or incorrect/false information shall be immediately

The candidates must submit a Bank Challan of Rs. 5000/- (Non-Refundable) payable to the “College of Nursing, University of Child Health Sciences, Lahore”, as the processing fee along with each application. The fee submission shall only be made on the Bank Challan generated/downloaded from the admission portal. The application process shall be deemed complete only upon successful fee submission. Failure to deposit the required fee within the stipulated time shall result in forfeiture of the right to admission.

11. The Admission Test Result, Interview Schedule, and Merit Lists shall be published on the official UCHS website www.uchs.edu.pk.

13. Applicants who are in service must get NOC and those applying on a deputation basis must submit their applications through the proper channel.

14. Applicants holding foreign qualifications shall be required to submit an equivalence certificate issued by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan Nursing & Midwifery Council (PNMC), as applicable.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

1. The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program of the University of Child Health Sciences, Lahore is duly approved by Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC) and Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan.

2. Selected applicants are required to personally collect their Call Letters from the office of the Principal, College of Nursing, UCHS. Letters will not be dispatched by mail or email.

3. Selected candidates must deposit the prescribed course fee within the due dates. Failure to pay the fee by the deadline will automatically render the candidate ineligible for admission.

4. Upon submission of the original fee deposit receipt, the Registrar, UCHS will issue the official enrolment number to the admitted student.

5. Candidates must report to the College within seven (07) days of issuance of the call letter.

6. Failure to report within the given period will result in cancellation of selection, and the seat will be offered to the next eligible candidate on the waiting list.

7. Admission fee once paid is non-refundable, either in part or in full, under any circumstances. However, the tuition fee is refundable according to the Higher Education Commission Policy 2024.

8. The competent authority reserves the right to alter admission dates or deadlines in case of unavoidable circumstances.

9. Candidates having equal marks shall be selected as per the following order of preferences

• Regular employee of the Government of Punjab serving in the host institution
• Regular employee of the Government of Punjab serving in other institutions.
• Contract/Adhoc employee of the Government of Punjab
• Private sector candidates

10. Any revision or review of the original merit list may be undertaken if relevant evidence or information is presented to the University Administration.
11. Such cases will be referred to the Grievance Redressal Committee, whose decision shall be final and not subject to challenge in any court of law.

12. In accordance with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) directives, the MSN Program will follow the Semester System.

13. Participation in political activities, strikes, or disruptive behavior is strictly prohibited. Any student found involved in such activities shall be liable to expulsion and, if employed in the government sector, may face disciplinary proceedings under the PEEDA Act 2006. An affidavit will be required in this context (Template of Affidavit will be available at the College of Nursing).

14. The University reserves the right to suspend or cancel the admission process at any stage without assigning any reason.
